Yarra City Council is a vibrant and forward-thinking organisation, committed to fostering an inclusive culture that values diversity, continuous improvement, and staff development. We are dedicated to making a positive impact in people's lives and constantly strive to enhance the services we deliver to our community.
We are seeking a safety professional to join our well-established Health, Safety & Wellbeing Unit in the People & Culture Branch. You’ll have the opportunity to contribute meaningfully to community wellbeing. At Yarra, we recognise the importance of professional growth and work-life balance. This role offers a range of benefits, including a strong emphasis on long-term career development, access to internal advancement opportunities, a flexible hybrid work model, and the support of a collaborative team.
This is an ideal opportunity for a safety professional with 1–3 years of experience who is ready to take the next step in their career. To support your success, the role includes on-the-job learning, leadership development opportunities, and clear pathways for internal progression.
The ideal candidate will hold a Certificate IV in Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) or a related field such as Risk Management, along with some relevant experience. Alternatively, candidates with less formal qualifications but substantial relevant experience in the field will also be considered. Previous experience as an OHS professional—or in a comparable specialist role—is essential, along with a broad range of practical, on-the-job experience. A demonstrated ability to engage with stakeholders, implement effective OHS management systems, and manage areas such as injury management and WorkCover claims is also required.
