About the Role
Yarra City Council is seeking an experienced Senior Finance Business Partner to help shape strategic decisions, influence organisational performance and support the delivery of services to our community. As a key member of the Budget and Business Support team within the Corporate Services Division, you will build strong partnerships with leaders and budget owners, helping them navigate complex financial matters and translate financial information into meaningful actions. Your expertise will support planning, performance monitoring and the development of business initiatives that align with Council's objectives.
In this role, you will provide trusted advice, deliver accurate and timely financial reporting, and use data-driven analysis to support sound decision-making across Council. Working closely with a diverse range of stakeholders, you will help ensure resources are effectively managed and organisational priorities are achieved.

Key Responsibilities include:
- Strategic Business Partnering: Build trusted relationships with leaders and budget owners, providing financial insights and advice that inform operational and strategic decisions.
- Budgeting and Forecasting: Lead and coordinate budget and forecast processes, ensuring accurate financial plans that align with Council priorities and corporate timelines.
- Financial Analysis and Reporting: Deliver timely reporting, analysis and recommendations that enhance organisational performance and support effective resource allocation.
What We’re Looking For
To succeed in this role, you will bring:
- Qualifications in Accounting, Finance or a related field, with CPA or CA accreditation.
- Proven experience delivering budgeting, forecasting, financial analysis and management reporting in a complex organisational environment.
- Advanced analytical and problem-solving skills, coupled with sound judgement and attention to detail.
- Strong stakeholder engagement and business partnering skills, with the ability to build trusted relationships and influence outcomes.
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to present financial information clearly to both finance and non-finance audiences.
- Proven ability to manage competing priorities and deliver high-quality outcomes in a deadline-driven environment.
