About the Role
Yarra City Council’s Ageing, Equity and Community Development (AECD) branch has a proud history in providing a range of services to older people 65+ living in the City of Yarra.
Willowview Centre, within the Senior Support Services in AECD branch, provides Social Support Group service under Commonwealth Home Support Programs (CHSP). The Centre currently has an opportunity for a dynamic and energetic person to join our team in providing meaningful, appropriate, and innovative social activities for participants in the Centre.
The position is temporary on Tuesday at 7.0 hour. Starting on Tuesday 10th November 2026.
The position has a shared role with another Leader on each rostered day in coordinating day-to-day staffing task and schedules. The position comes with key role in completing monthly program planning, daily program deliveries, and monitoring and follow-ups on participants wellbeing. Highly experienced and excellent track records in designing and delivering planned activities and programs within social group settings including planning outings, and great people engagement skills would be essential selection criteria.
The key responsibilities and duties include:
- Lead and support the team in the planning and implementation of stimulating, innovating and culturally sensitive activities to help maintain the physical, intellectual, psychological, social and emotional wellbeing of clients attending the Centre.
- Responsible for Monthly Program planning, daily program adjustment and team coordination.
- Key role in implementing or allocating Centre’s daily programs, ensuring that activities planned are appropriate for the client group, age related, culturally relevant and are community focused to include group outings.
- Adopt Wellness and Reablement practices and Empowerment framework to individuals in their participation and care planning. Group participants will be empowered to set personal goals with a focus on plans to achieve goals with regular review process.
- Identify program resources required with an awareness of the program budget and staffing constraints. Plan and organize for the program deliveries.
- Prepare the Centre and organize the necessary equipment and resources to undertake the activities.
- Liaising and communicating with carers/families regarding the supporting needs of the participants within the social group space
- Monitor the appropriateness of activities and participate in their evaluation.
- Experienced and ability to drive a 12-seater bus would be an advantage.
- Experiences working with people living with dementia and abilities to response to personal support are highly desirable.
- Trained and qualification in conducting exercise or mobility strengthening classes with older adults would also be an advantage.
