Working across the Customer Experience and Governance branch, we're seeking a skilled and motivated Freedom of Information (FOI) Officer to manage and process Council FOI requests in accordance with the Freedom of Information Act 1982 (Vic).

This position plays a crucial role in supporting integrity, transparency, and access to information. Additionally, it contributes to best practices in governance and ensures legislative compliance across various matters, including privacy and information management.

What We’re Looking For:

We’re looking for someone with strong analytical and communication skills, who can work autonomously and collaboratively to deliver timely and accurate FOI services. You’ll be responsible for assessing requests, preparing documentation, liaising with stakeholders, and supporting reviews and complaints processes.

Key Skills & Experience:

  • Experience in processing FOI requests, preferably in government or legal settings
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong research and document review capabilities
  • Ability to manage competing priorities and meet deadlines
  • Knowledge of privacy and information management principles

Qualifications:

  • A relevant qualification in law, public administration, or information management is desirable
  • Experience with legal research and interpreting legislation is advantageous

This position is highly autonomous; however, we are committed to ongoing training and support.
