About the Role

In this role, you will deliver hands-on home maintenance services to older residents across Yarra, supporting them to remain safe and independent in their own homes. Your day-to-day work will involve attending client homes, assessing what needs to be done, and completing minor repairs and safety-related tasks such as fixing doors, changing light globes or installing smoke alarms.

You’ll work independently in the community while staying connected to a supportive team, managing your daily jobs, communicating directly with clients, and ensuring work is completed safely and respectfully. You’ll also complete basic administrative tasks, including recording job details and updates in Council systems.

We’re proud to offer flexible working arrangements, strong internal development pathways, and a culture that prioritises wellbeing and connection. This is a great opportunity for someone practical and community-minded who enjoys problem solving, working with people, and seeing the direct impact of their work.

We’re looking for a candidate with practical experience in home maintenance or a similar field, along with the ability to work independently and engage respectfully with older people to help deliver outcomes in the Ageing, Equity & Community Development Branch. This may include:

  • Experience undertaking minor maintenance and repair work in home environments
  • Ability to assess tasks on-site and complete work safely within scope
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to build trust with clients in their homes
  • A practical, solutions-focused approach with good problem-solving skills
  • Confidence using basic systems or mobile devices to record work (or willingness to learn)
  • Understanding of safe work practices and ability to identify risks in home settings
  • Current Victorian Driver’s Licence
