Yarra City Council’s Ageing, Equity and Community Development (AECD) branch has a proud history in providing a range of services to older people 65+ living in the City of Yarra. 

Willowview Centre, within the Senior Support Services in AECD branch, provides Social Support Group service under Commonwealth Home Support Programs (CHSP). The Centre currently has an opportunity for a dynamic and energetic person to join our team in providing meaningful, appropriate, and innovative social activities for participants in the Centre.

The position is 5.0 hours per week working on the Thursdays with the Italian-speaking group. Ability to communicate in Italian is not the requirement but may be an advantage. High level of cultural competency in engaging with people in cross-cultural communities is desirable. The position work under instruction from the Active Living Leader on the day and reports to the Coordinator Willowview.

The key responsibilities and duties include:

  • Assist in the development and implementation of stimulating culturally sensitive activities to help maintain the physical, intellectual, psychological, social and emotional wellbeing of clients attending the Centre.
  • Prepare the Centre morning set-up in the morning and clean up and pack down at the end of the day.
  • Support clients’ participation during program time and provide assistance and support to encourage their participation and social interactions with others
  • Assist and support clients’ safety and wellbeing within the Centre. Tasks may include assisting with safety movements within, out and around the Centre, and for personal care support when required.
  • Responsible for meal preparations, food safety recording food and adhering to safety requirements and standards.
  • Well-developed and efficient administration and organisational skills for operating client attendance and entering client notes.
  • Ensure client records comply with privacy principles.
