Band 6 - starting at $94,850.87 + super (pro-rata)

As the Council’s FOI Officer, this position is responsible for efficiently and effectively processing Freedom of Information (FOI) applications in accordance with the Freedom of Information Act 1982 (the Act) and the appointed decision-maker.
This position plays a crucial role in supporting integrity, transparency, and access to information. Additionally, it contributes to governance best practices and ensures legislative compliance across various matters, including privacy.

Are you passionate about transparency and public access to information? We're seeking a skilled and motivated Freedom of Information (FOI) Officer to manage and process FOI requests in accordance with the Freedom of Information Act 1982 (Vic).
What We’re Looking For:
We’re looking for someone with strong analytical and communication skills, who can work autonomously and collaboratively to deliver timely and accurate FOI services. You’ll be responsible for assessing requests, preparing documentation, liaising with stakeholders, and supporting reviews and complaints processes.
Key Skills & Experience:
- Experience processing FOI requests, preferably in government or legal settings
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Strong research and document review capabilities
- Ability to manage competing priorities and meet deadlines
- Knowledge of privacy and information management principles
Qualifications:
- A relevant qualification in law, public administration, or information management is desirable
- Experience with legal research and interpreting legislation is advantageous
