Yarra City Council has an exciting opportunity waiting for an enthusiastic and experienced Customer and Business Support Officer within our Richmond Early Years Precinct. This is rare and highly sought after role is a part-time position within our service leadership and administration team. This role is best suited to applicants with experience in customer and business support. If successful, you will have a combined administration and supportive customer focussed role that will promote inclusion, engagement and positive early childhood education & care outcomes for children and families at Richmond Precinct and community.
What is the Richmond Early Years Precinct?
The Richmond Early Years Precinct is a dual-site early childhood education and care service owned and managed by Yarra City Council. Comprising of Yarraberg Children's Centre and Richmond Kindergarten, the Richmond Early Years Precinct provides high quality Long Day Care and Sessional Kindergarten programs to children living in and around the municipality. The total licenced capacity of the Richmond Early Years Precinct caters for up to 120 children per day. Within the Richmond Early Years Precinct, we value responsive practices that meet the individual needs of each child and their family.
How will the Customer and Business Support Officer be supported to do their job well?
Our Early Years Precinct model has enabled Yarra's Children's Services to focus on a strength-based approach to leadership and administration. Each of our leadership and administration roles are supported to focus on their area of expertise, complementing the skills and competencies of their counterparts to create a rich tapestry of knowledge leaders and skill builders.
The Customer and Business Support role sits within a well-appointed and established Early Years Precinct leadership team, including:
- Precinct Coordinator
- Precinct Team Leader
- Precinct Educational Leader
- Precinct Customer and Business Support
This strong and effective leadership model means that our Customer and Business Support Officer can focus on what they do best - administration and supportive customer focus to promote inclusion, engagement and positive early childhood education & care outcomes for children and families at Richmond Precinct and community.
The role works in partnership with Customer and Business Support staff within the Branch to provide a multi-skilled multi-disciplined quality customer service to internal and external clients.

What qualifications and experience will you need for this role?
- Relevant business or customer service training e.g. TAFE or VCE studies.
- Experience in a responsible customer and business support or administrative support role, if this has been in children’s services would be an advantage but is not essential.
- Current Victorian driver’s licence preferred, but is not essential.
- Experience in a local government or community services environment would be an advantage, but is not essential.
- Recognised early childhood education and care (ECEC) qualifications care would be an advantage, but is not essential.
- Current first aid, anaphylaxis and asthma training certificates preferred but not essential.
