Temporary - Full Time (Flexible) - Commencing ASAP until 27 June 2025
Band 5 - from $78,448.84 + super + RDO (RDO applicable for full time 38 hours per week only)

The Recreation and Leisure Services Branch is responsible for the management, planning and development of recreation, leisure and sporting assets for residents, workers and visitors to the City. The Recreation unit is responsible for driving positive social and health outcomes for the community through passive and active recreation opportunities.
The Participation Officer is a multi-faceted position contributing to the chronic issue of physical inactivity through supporting participation initiatives, working closely with Yarra's sports clubs on the implementation of the Fair Access Policy Road Map and assisting the Recreation unit with daily facility operations.
The successful candidate will have an excellent understanding of the drivers associated with community sport, be a team player, self-motivated, have a high attention to detail and wanting to further enhance their existing skills in the field of Recreation.
Some of the key duties of this position will include:
- Support and implement the delivery of priority actions outlined in Yarra’s Strategies and Plans.
- Support community clubs with the implementation of the Fair Access Policy Road Map and Action Plan, in conjunction with the Sport Operations and Development Officer
- Assist the recreation team and the associated community clubs in the facility management of various recreation venues
- Coordinate a comprehensive approach to collating and analysing participation data.
- Represent the Recreation Unit as part of Yarra’s Community Grants Program
- Identify potential barriers to participation in leisure and recreation activities by liaising with community groups to ascertain service needs of older adults, people from a culturally and linguistically diverse (CALD) background, low income, at risk, or socially disengaged.
