Part Time Position– 4 days per week (32 hours per week)

Temporary 24-month contract beginning January 2025

Band 5 - $78,448.84 - $90,891.22 per annum (pro rata) + Super

Are you seeking to make a positive difference in lives of young children and work within a dedicated team of vibrant professionals? Do you want to work to reduce barriers to access to Kindergarten and Early Learning for vulnerable and disadvantaged children? We are seeking a committed Family Support Worker to work with our team at Connie Benn Early Learning Centre.

This role focuses on the safety, stability and development of vulnerable children in Yarra, by providing necessary supports that will enable families to access our high-quality Kindergarten and Early Learning programs. As a member of the Children's Services Team, you will work with early childhood professionals to identify, engage and support children and families that have multiple and complex needs, and are experiencing barriers to access by undertaking a range of case management interventions to empower Yarra families to reach their potential.

This is an exciting new role and some of your responsibilities will include:

  • Enrolment support
  • Support families with Parental Education and Occupation Detail forms
  • Support teams with building relationships with children and families
  • Liaise with families’ social workers, AEL workers, MCH regarding previous engagement with allied health or Child Protection.
  • Assisting families with NDIS, allied health, paediatric, Speech therapy meetings and appointments
  • Gathering documents for allied health supports
  • Support transition to kindergarten with children and families new to service/ early childhood education.
  • Attend school tours with families needing support
  • Help with enhanced orientation to school
  • Support families with school transition including school enrolment forms, orientation days and school readiness preparation.
  • Support team to complete KIS forms for following year.

Successful applicants will have:

  • Tertiary qualifications in Social Work, psychology or equivalent or related discipline
  • Minimum two years relevant experience in Community Services Sector
  • Valid WWCC
  • Demonstrated theoretical knowledge and understanding of attachment and trauma and individual and systemic casework practice
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and relevant software applications
  • An understanding of kindergarten enrolment requirements and the Child Care Subsidy is desirable
