The Recreation and Leisure Services Branch is responsible for the management, planning and development of recreation, leisure and sporting assets for residents, workers and visitors to the City.
As the Projects Officer – Recreation and Leisure, you will support the delivery of recreation and leisure infrastructure projects collaborating with internal teams, external partners and the user groups to deliver high-quality sport and leisure facilities across the municipality.
You’ll work closely with stakeholders to coordinate projects on the ground, building strong relationships and act as the key link between Council, contractors, internal teams, and the community. While contributing to the planning and ongoing management of Council’s recreation and leisure assets, you’ll draw on your experience to translate operational and lifecycle needs into practical, well-delivered outcomes that enhance functionality, accessibility and customer experience.
Some of the key responsibilities of the role:
- Lead and support the client-side of recreation and leisure infrastructure projects across planning, design and implementation
- Contribute to asset planning and lifecycle management, supporting renewal programs, maintenance strategies and capital planning
- Contribute directly to business cases and external funding submissions, including grant applications, by providing project scoping, cost inputs, asset data and clear delivery justifications
- Work closely with Building Maintenance and Capital Works teams to coordinate works, track performance and inform forward programs for Recreation and Leisure assets
- Act as a key liaison, partnering with stakeholders, Sport & Recreation Victoria, State Sporting Bodies and contractors to deliver fit-for-purpose, operationally sustainable outcomes
- Undertake site inspections and asset assessments to identify risks, priorities and opportunities, and provide clear, evidence-based advice
- Support the prioritisation of renewal and upgrade works, balancing service needs, risk and lifecycle requirements
- Build and maintain strong relationships with community users, sporting clubs, contractors and consultants
- Collaborate across teams to drive continuous improvement in asset performance and customer experience
What We’re Looking For
This is a role for someone that has an extensive understanding of capital projects, who enjoys building strong relationships, influencing project outcomes, has experience in grant writing and contributing to recreation and leisure asset strategies.
