About the Role
An exciting opportunity exists for a Graduate Road Engineer to join Yarra City Council's Civil Engineering team, a diverse and highly motivated team within the Infrastructure, Traffic and Civil Engineering Branch. The team provides specialist engineering advice to internal and external stakeholders and plays a key role in shaping infrastructure outcomes across the municipality.
This position is ideal for a recent or early-career Civil Engineering graduate looking to develop a broad range of skills across engineering assessment, development approvals, road infrastructure, drainage, traffic engineering and project delivery. You will receive mentoring and support from experienced engineers while contributing to the assessment of development proposals, service authority works and significant infrastructure projects.
The role offers exposure to multiple engineering disciplines and may include opportunities to work alongside Council's traffic engineering and road inspection teams, providing a strong foundation for a long-term engineering career within local government.
What We're Looking For
We're seeking a motivated and enthusiastic engineering professional with a passion for civil infrastructure and community outcomes.
The successful candidate will have:
- A Bachelor Degree in Civil Engineering.
- Ability to review and assess engineering drawings and documentation for compliance with engineering standards, established engineering principles and relevant legislation.
- Demonstrated curiosity and commitment to continuous learning, with the ability to research unfamiliar topics and apply technical knowledge in practical situations.
- Ability to prepare accurate, concise and timely reports, technical assessments and correspondence.
- Well-developed communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to manage competing priorities and meet deadlines within a busy environment.
- Sound technical aptitude and an interest in civil, drainage, road and traffic engineering.
- Competency in Microsoft Office applications and willingness to learn Council systems and processes.
- Current Victorian Driver Licence.
