Full Time Permanent position

Band 7 – Starting from $108,545.62 + super + RDO (RDO applicable for full-time 38 hours per week only)

About the Role

In this leadership position, you'll oversee all aspects of payroll operations for our diverse workforce. You'll guide and mentor team members while ensuring accurate, timely payroll processing that supports our 800+ employees across various council services.

Key responsibilities:

  • Lead and develop a small, committed payroll team
  • Manage end-to-end payroll processes and compliance requirements
  • Implement process improvements and system enhancements
  • Collaborate with HR and Finance teams on workforce planning
  • Provide expert advice on payroll matters to management
  • Ensure compliance with employment awards and legislation

We’re looking for a candidate with proven experience in payroll management and team leadership to ensure our payroll function aligns to Australian payroll legislation and meets compliance standards. We are keen to hear from people with experience in payroll systems and reporting, excellent communication skills, a problem-solving mindset and demonstrates attention to detail. Local government or public entity experience would help you quickly understand the complex nature of this role.
